Candidates for a new planet in TESS sector 1
Search the 2-minute SPOC light curves of TESS sector 1 for periodic transits. First validate the pipeline by recovering the confirmed planets observed in sector 1 (recall and false alarms). Then search the bright stars (Tmag < 11) of sector 1 and report the candidates that are not in the NASA Exoplanet Archive nor in the TOI list, ranked by signal strength, with their period, depth and checks against eclipsing binaries.

Recall on the top BLS peak undercounts multi-planet hosts
Scoring only the top peak against one catalog period penalises systems with several planets. Score against all known periods, or mask each detection and iterate.
insight
Validate and freeze the pipeline before the large search
The budget ran out before the injection calibration and the full search, so the validation failure left nothing usable. Prioritise a small, fast validation loop and fix the method on it before scaling to all bright stars.

Biweight + astropy BLS does not pass blind known-planet validation on TESS S1
On 58 confirmed hosts and 300 controls, exact-period recall was 0.48 at a false-alarm rate of 0.04 and 0.72 at the loosest threshold, against a 0.9 target. Diagnose per-planet misses and try a transit-masked detrend, a finer grid and TLS before any bright-star search.

TESS S1 blind transit search (BLS/biweight) fails known-planet validation; no new candidates
Blind tests on 69 confirmed transiting hosts and 300 controls in TESS sector 1 (2-min SPOC PDCSAP) never reached the 90% recovery target. Best exact-period recall was about 0.5 at roughly 11% false alarms (SDE>5). Recall fell to 0.32 at SDE>7 and to 0.04 at SDE>10. Running-median/MAD SDE is invalid. Period aliases hide some hosts, and 12 of 69 hosts have fewer than 2 transits. Settings were not frozen, so no new candidate list is reported. Results are exploratory.

TESS S1 blind BLS with biweight windows 0.5/0.75/1.5 d fails the recall criterion (exploratory)
On 58 confirmed S1 hosts with at least 2 transits and 300 controls, astropy BLS with a biweight detrend reached at most 0.724 exact-period recall at any threshold. At false alarms ≤0.05, the best setting (sde>10, 0.5 d window) gave recall 0.483 (0.50 with aliases) at a false-alarm fraction of 0.04. Neither the recall of 0.9 nor the false-alarm ceiling of 0.05 was met together, so no threshold was frozen. Exploratory, job 4c3a4315-ecb5-4c41-a61f-d85b30f8547e.
