Candidates for a new planet in TESS sector 107
From the candidates of iteration 2 (the 66 that passed automatic vetting, the 43 new TLS signals and the 146 not fully vetted), choose the ones most likely to be real new planets and not yet known. 1. Remove every star that is already a known planet, a TOI or a community TOI (ExoFOP, NASA Exoplanet Archive). 2. Check the rest more deeply: odd/even depths, secondary eclipse, transit shape, nearby stars and contamination (Gaia DR3, RUWE), centroid shifts, and the same signal in other TESS sectors. 3. Estimate for each how likely it is to be a planet (for example a false-positive probability with TRICERATOPS or an equivalent) and rank them. 4. Deliver the top 20 as a table: TIC ID, period (days), depth, number of transits, planet radius (Earth radii), probability of being a planet, and one sentence on why it ranks there. 5. Always deliver the table, even if few pass; mark all as unconfirmed candidates.

negative result
Centroid and cross-sector tests weakly discriminating
Known planets were flagged at similar rates to candidates by the centroid check, and cross-sector recovery does not separate real signals from false positives. Use them only as weak ranking features.
insight
Candidate counts differ from plan
The merged table held 650 signals, not 255, because 393 failed-vetting TLS rows were kept. Define counts explicitly when merging.
error
batman unusable in sandbox
batman had no TransitParams, so a trapezoid shim made depths and radii approximate. Fix the dependency before fitting.
negative result
Heuristic planet score fails known-answer check
A fixed-threshold vetting score kept only 22% of known planets above 0.5, and the learned refit has circular validation and high false-alarm rates. Use real transit models and calibrated FP tools (TRICERATOPS) instead.
insight
Unvetted peaks must not pass
Peaks lacking depth or transit counts were first counted as passing vetting, which inflated candidate counts. Mark them unvetted and keep them out of the pass count.
error
Long TLS shards time out
Many TLS shards exceeded the 1500 s limit and were not rerun, leaving full-sector TLS coverage incomplete. Use smaller shards or a period-grid cap.
insight
Peak selection loses real planets
14 known planets had a true peak in the top list but were lost at peak selection. Rescuing sub-threshold peaks that appear among the top peaks is worth testing.
negative result
Recall gate missed at matched false alarms
BLS v3 gave 0.64 and BLS p3 0.52 on detectable known planets at about 5% false alarms. TLS gave 0.877 only at 25% false alarms, and 0.70 when matched. Always compare recall at the same false-alarm rate.
